Christmas is probably one of the most enjoyable celebrations all year round, and perhaps the most decorative season of all. Almost each part of the house, inside or outside, gets dressed up for the holidays. Various holiday items, ribbons, flowers and lights are placed almost everywhere. It is also, possibly, the most expensive time of the year, especially in terms of energy consumption. In today’s economic crunch, decorating your house with a lot of garish lights seems frivolous yet almost unavoidable. Happily, there are alternatives to lighting your home with electric powered lights. At least some of them can be replaced with battery operated Christmas lights.

Battery operated Christmas lights have several distinct advantages over their electrically powered cousins. First off, and probably the most important difference, is that the battery powered lights can be placed almost anywhere and is not depended on a wall socket. This opens up a lot of imaginative and creative lighting decoration that is not possible with electric Christmas lights. While some would say that they could do this with the electric lights, it would involve a long wire attached to an electrical outlet and would not only consume electricity, adding to your already skyrocketing electric bill, but will also expose you to risk of electrical accidents. Using battery operated Christmas lights is both an economical and safe alternative.

There are two kinds of battery powered Christmas lights, the ones that use incandescent bulbs and the other that utilizes LEDs. Battery powered Christmas lights of the incandescent type typically come in sets of 15 lights and powered by two size C or larger batteries. The incandescent bulbs consume more battery power, though, same as the other incandescent bulbs used in flashlights and such, so much so that the batteries can only last for around 6 hours. Getting rechargeable or lithium as well as alkaline batteries can improve the lighting time, and in the case of rechargeable batteries, saves you money on battery costs. The bulbs, however, will be spent in time and will have to be replaced regularly.

LED Christmas lights powered by batteries are becoming more and more popular to people who want to decorate their homes. This is because the LEDs are far more economical in terms of maintenance and consumption of power. LED, or Light Emitting Diode, is a semiconductor that generates light consuming only a small amount of power. A set of 20 bright and colorful LED battery operated Christmas lights can be powered by just 3 AA batteries and can last for almost a week of nightly use. The usage of lithium can even extend that while rechargeable can save you the cost of replacing your batteries. Maintenance is also simple and cheap since these LED lights typically lasts anywhere from 25,000 hours to a staggering 100,000 hours, allowing you to reuse them season upon season – or better yet, celebration upon celebration.

The battery operated Christmas lights come in strings and are available in different colors, even with changing colors, same as the electrically powered ones. These can be great for Christmas trees, outside decorations, windows, mantles, and almost anywhere you wish to place them. No, having to garishly decorate your home for the holidays no longer mean that you will be haemorrhaging on your electric bills. These are practical, economical and wise decoration alternatives.

LED lights are great for accenting any decoration be it indoor or outdoor. Battery operated LED lights have come a long way and now they can be used in almost any situation and placed almost anywhere. LED lights are available from emergency LED lights to even underwater LED tea lights.

Advanced lighting
LED stands for light emitting diode, which uses a semi-conducting diode to generate light. LED bulbs uses power very efficiently and lasts a very long time, usually from 25,000 to 100,000 hours! The small size of the LED allows it to be placed in small holders and use small batteries. The small size of the entire lighting assembly is ideal for a number of lighting uses that is not possible using normal bulbs.

Professional Quality Decorations
There are various types of battery operated LED lighting, from string lights to candle type LED lightings that are available in the market. One of the most popular decorative lighting products using LED is the battery operated LED tea lights due to their small size and extended lighting time. Tea lights are great for party decorations as well as home decorations. For even more attractive lighting decor, though, the use of underwater LED tea lights would really bring a highlight to your design.

Waterproof design
Underwater LED tea lights are designed to operate while submerged in the water. Its airtight design keeps the internal components dry yet operating even while immersed in the water. This is particularly useful and attractive for placement in places like transparent flower vases and sure to bring attention to your floral design. Aquariums are also perfect places to use the underwater tea lights, with the lighting to accentuate your aquarium design.

One of the more demanding places to decorate for parties, especially night ones, is perhaps your swimming pool. There is quite a bit of area to cover and any other objects used for decoration will simply get lost in the darkness. With the use of underwater LED lights, however, you now have a set of decorative items that is sure to complement your overall style of decoration for your gathering. Designing your pool or pond with submersible LED tea lights will sure to enhance its appearance. There is nothing more eye catching than a pond or a pool littered with colorful underwater LED tea lights casting a mystical light underwater. Placing each light is easy and requires virtually no maintenance.

Different Styles
The submersible LED tea lights come in different attractive colors and usually come in sets of 10 or more. They come with individual on/off switches and their replaceable batteries give them up to 24 hours of continuous operation. There are even models of the underwater LED tea lights which change colors, cycling from red to green to blue.

The lights themselves are not expensive and usually come complete with batteries and ready for use. So for times that you feel challenged to bring life to an otherwise plain decoration for a party or any social gathering, especially in places near pools or ponds, use the underwater LED tea lights. And even without a pool, an LED tea light or two in a transparent flower vase is sure to liven up your tables.

Low Cost Yet High Impact Decorations.
This is a post from: Battery operated lighting

Any sort of celebration that you want to make memorable, you typically go for attractive and chic decorations. But these kinds of decorations could set you back a lot of money. One of the ways to highlight what few decorations you have without costing a lot of money is through the use of battery mini lights. Indeed, using lights to enhance your decorations could instantly make them look like you have spent a large sum for these lights could make them look that good.

Using lights for your decorations make your party or gathering look classy and stylish. The proper placement of these lights could accentuate your decorative pieces and bring them to life. And that is the key, however, the proper placement of the lights. Normally, the garish and bright, twinkling lights require the availability of a nearest power outlet. Unfortunately, such outlets are not always available or conveniently placed for your lighting purposes. Think, for example, a garage or your patio or garden. Even if they have an electrical outlet, they will not be convenient for your lighting decorations.

The good news is that there are available mini lights, which run on battery power. These highly convenient and useful battery mini lights can be placed almost anywhere that you need lighting and lasts a long time. They can come in either single or multiple strings and can be joined or grouped and placed wherever they are needed.

Battery mini lights come in several colors like red, yellow, green and blue. They can come either in singular color or in alternating colors. The most economical and bright mini lights uses LED or light emitting diodes as lights. These LEDs consume far less power than ordinary bulbs – typically eighty percent that normal bulbs – and lasts almost indefinitely. The colors put out by LED lights are significantly much brighter that normal bulbs because normal bulbs normally achieve colored lighting by using colored glass. LED lights, on the other hand, generate the colors normally allowing them to produce the bright and attractive colors. The battery mini lights can be powered by different types of batteries depending on the maker or the design. While others make use of two size C batteries to produce an 8 hour light, others can use the smaller AA penlight battery to power the lights. The kind of battery could also mean the difference for giving out a steady light of the mini lights. Ordinary batteries can last up to 8 hours, which is already pretty long for a party, but alkaline and lithium batteries last longer – up to 30 hours. Rechargeable batteries can also be used which could also save on money in case – and inevitably – the lights are reused.

Using any sort of imagination, you can begin placing these battery mini lights throughout your party area – from cakes, trees, tables, flower baskets, columns, trellis and many, many more. The presence of these small, and in some cases twinkling, lights bring a fun and professional touch to your party decorations. You can have all these advantages without costing you a lot of money. Good deal!

The world’s dwindling natural as well as the current economic slump being experienced has led more and more people in to looking for various alternative sources of energy. All over the world families have been facing steadily rising cost of electricity on top of the increasing prices of important goods. Various countries experienced disasters, which cut off the supply of basic necessities top among which is power for lighting. Whether for emergencies or just to save on the electricity bill, the most suitable means of lighting during these times is the use of solar powered lighting.

Solar powered lights combine the extremely long life of LED lights with batteries that can be continually recharged using sunlight. LEDs are short for light emitting diodes. The lifespan of these LED lights can be up to more than 100,000 hours. That’s up to 10,000 days or more than 27 years of use if the lights are on for up to 10 hours per day. The built-in rechargeable batteries power the bright LED lights from 8 – 10 hours on the average with virtually no maintenance required.

Solar powered lighting comes in various forms and functions and for a variety of purposes, from an array of attractive and highly decorative garden lights to specific function lights as well as multipurpose emergency lights.

Outdoor solar lights have different styles, like solar powered lamp posts, with tall, almost 7 feet of height and a bright light given out by 20 individual LED bulbs. This solid and durable lamp will automatically turn itself on at night and shuts down during the daytime while it is recharging. Other types of outdoor garden lights are lanterns that can be fitted on top of an existing post or a pillar or even a column. With no wiring’s to worry about, the placement options of these lanterns are greatly increased.

Specialty solar powered lights are also available for various particular functions. There are solar powered spotlights that can be used to enhance or bring focus to a particular area outside the house or garden. To enhance the style of the pool or pond, solar powered floating pool lights can also be used. This type of solar lighting comes in different colors and shapes, from a disk-shaped lighting to even a spherical pool light.

Several solar powered novelty lights for the garden are also available including Christmas tree lighting as well as fun shaped lights.

Other specialty solar powered lights are security floodlights with infrared and motion detectors. These security lights are ideal for safeguarding the entire outdoor area as these are not affected by power interruptions. High powered lights such as these require the use of a larger solar panel for charging its batteries.

But solar powered lighting is not limited to the outdoors. Powerful indoor lights are also available either for emergencies or supplemental lighting to save on electricity costs. These bright indoor lights comes with up to 30 LED bulbs that never need replacing and a solar panel that can be placed outside to provide hours and hours of free and clean lighting. You can choose the power capacity of the solar panel depending on the specific lighting needs that you have.

Other hand held solar powered lights can also be obtained great for emergencies and any outdoor activities with the combination of the long lasting LEDs and the maximum re-usability of the solar rechargeable batteries.

In the old days, candles are prone to accidents aside from making it hard to keep its light especially in places where there is lots of wind. To counter this, the so called hurricane lamps was created. These lamps were designed to operate strong winds as well as making it difficult for fire to escape the glass in case it was toppled accidentally. Today the need for all that is almost eliminated with the use of battery hurricane lamps.

Hurricane lights make great decorations, although for places where electricity is not consistently supplied most people depend on this for their lighting. Depending on the type of battery hurricane lamps, the number of LED lights as well as batteries use differs. For chimney style hurricane lamps with metal base, up to three C-sized batteries can be used together with a single LED or light emitting diode bulb. Other types have as many as 21 LEDs for lighting even the most extreme conditions. Maintenance for these lamps is even simpler with the LED lights typically requiring no replacements, and either rechargeable batteries can be used for maximum re-usability or long life lithium or alkaline batteries for more extended hours of use. Take note that even on ordinary batteries, these lamps could provide up to 24 hours on the average, of continuous light. The built-in on/off switch as well as an adjustable dimmer could prolong the battery life even more.

Hurricane lamps come in two distinctly different designs. The first one is primarily used indoors although the nature of its power supply allows it to be used as a decorative piece almost anywhere. The most recognizable feature of a hurricane lamp, battery powered or otherwise, is the tall glass that covers the source of light. The simplest version of this design is a glass ‘chimney’ over the source of light. Variations include a perforated metal on top to protect the flame against the wind and a metal base for more stability. Others are designed for decorative purposes and have an ornate base as well as specially designed glass, which can either be plain, smoked or colored. With the LED lights powered by batteries, several other fashionable design variations are also available with many more possible alternatives on the way.

The most sturdily constructed types of battery hurricane lamps are those encased in a metal framework with a handle on top or on both sides. This design imitates the flame-based hurricane lantern that protects the flame from extreme weather conditions. For battery lights, however, these models come with multiple LED lights that can provide even more brilliant illumination. From a minimum of 12 up to a high 16 LED bulbs per lamp, these bright lights are great for outdoor activities as well as various emergencies where a bright source of light is crucial. Powered by just two D batteries, these lights are constructed as water proof and shock proof, guaranteed to provide lights when you need it, no matter what the weather is, or where you are. Considering its value, especially during emergencies, the battery hurricane lights can be considered as a very wise and affordable investment.

Multi-purpose battery operated votive candles for any occasion.
This is a post from: Battery operated lighting

Votive candles typically evoke solemnity and seriousness, whenever they are present and are typically used for religious purposes. Which is why the battery operated votive candles are the perfect lighting to be used on occasions such as weddings, dining, accent lighting, fund raising or any other formal or romantic gatherings.

A typical votive candle is ordinarily a small 2 inch by 1.5 inches made from beeswax and burns for about four to five hours. There is, of course, the inevitable mess of the wax drippings as well as the constant danger of causing fire. Because of this, the waxen votive candles are placed in specific locations or on special holders. On the other hand, battery operated votive candles are of the same size, made of plastic, a small, replaceable lithium battery, normally a CR2032, an on-off switch and a flicker-type LED or light emitting diode to provide the light. The plastic exterior is shaped like a true candle with variations for effect like some having simulated wax drippings or others looking partially melted or a neat and unspent candle. The LED can be encased in a tear shaped glass to provide the illusion of a naked flame and the flicker completes it. Some models stand alone while others are placed in clear or smoked glass or in metal bases. And for others who think that these faux votive candles do not smell the same, there are scented votive candles available and still powered by batteries. And the LED lasts a very long time, about a hundred thousand hours before it needs replacement.

The battery operated votive candles are popular because of their low price, with a set of 8 typically costing around $12, and their attractive designs. Ordinarily, the battery powered candles come with the classic votive candle shape and appearance but other styles are also available. There are those that are placed in smoked glasses of various sizes that make them hard to be distinguished from the real candles, especially with the flickering lights.

The melted type votive candle gives it another level of authenticity and its small size allows it to be placed on votive glasses.

For weddings or valentines, specially crafted votive candles are available. With decorative decals and colors that show the classic valentine or wedding theme, these candles are great for table tops or centerpieces. Christmas themed candles are also available with colors specific to the season, like blue, white and red.
For those looking for more than what a battery operated votive offers, there are scented votive candles that not only look like the real wax candles but smell like the scented ones, too.

Personalized votive candles are also available with styles that can match any occasion, from graduations to anniversaries and birthdays. These marked candles are great for centerpieces, tables as well as other decorations that would normally cause chills with real candles for fear of spilling the wax or the candles falling over.

For a really radical approach to lighting, there is even battery operated votive candles with multicolored lighting that has up to seven different settings from single lights to a switching Technicolor effect that is sure to fun to any table.

Decorating your room or an area with lights is ordinarily not an easy task. Aside from finding the right decorative lighting to suit your design, there are other considerations as well. One of these considerations, and perhaps potentially the most limiting, is the availability of a power source. Electrically powered lights may have some advantages but battery operated lanterns are catching up fast. Indeed, in a number of instances, battery powered lamps are more preferable than electrically powered ones.

Battery operated lanterns are lamps that use light emitting diodes or LED to produce light. These typically small LED bulbs produce bright lights and consume far less power than their electrically operated counterparts. In fact, these LED lights can produce lighting that can last more than 24 hours just using a single AA battery. The LED lights are also durable, which can resist damage from the elements as well as the shock from vibrations or fall, and has a long lifespan – averaging 100,000 hours of continuous use.

However, these are not the only features of the battery powered lanterns. These lamps are so portable that they can be made to look like traditional lanterns that use gas or wax. These lanterns come in various designs that mimic traditional as well as new and chic models.

For indoor use, for example, battery operated lanterns are available in styles that mimic a hanging paper lantern. These very attractive lanterns come in various colors and shapes. From the classic oriental spherical paper lamp to a cylindrical and oval shaped paper lantern as well as other similar designs, these battery powered lights can be placed anywhere that you need them. These come with on/off switches and can last weeks if used for 4-5 hours a day. These types of lanterns are also great for parties, weddings, and other fun gatherings, especially when mixed with different and bright colors. Other designs are lanterns that can be mounted on walls. The flickering lights that these lanterns produce make them appear as if lit by a real candle but without the danger of burning or other fire damages.

For outdoor as well as portable use, the battery powered lanterns are also available in standing types, carry-on types and hanging types. Standing lanterns can come attached to poles or stands great for patios or gardens. Some of these lanterns even come with a timer for automatically lighting itself in a predetermined time and shut itself off after a set number of hours. This saves power on the AAA batteries and can last them for weeks, especially if lithium batteries are used.

For outdoor camping or gatherings, some battery operated lanterns have up to 6 bright LED lights powered by two AA batteries and produce a bright illumination for hours. These lanterns are made from glass and with metal frames and can be carried or hanged. A variation of this lantern is the old style lantern perfect for Halloween trick or treating activities. The bright lights produced by these lanterns are great for emergencies as well as for lighting outdoor activities at nighttime.

With various attractive and colorful styles to choose from, these durable, practical and long lasting batteries operated lanterns are sure to provide long hours of bright and beautiful lighting.

Candles bring a pleasing ambiance to any room or area. The soft and subdued light of candles sets the mood for various relaxing, informal or romantic gatherings. However, there are certain obvious restrictions to using candles. The outside use of candles is almost impossible, especially where there are winds. Safety concerns are also a consideration when you plan on using candles. Strong winds could not only blow out the flame, but any accidental bump that would cause the candle to topple may lead to fire. This is especially true if the candles are being used where there are lots of children. Gaining popularity as an alternative are battery operated candles.

Safe and functional
Because the candles use LED or light emitting diode for lights, the candles can be positioned anywhere even in places where a normal candle cannot be placed. Powered by standard sized penlight batteries, these candles can provide lighting for more than twenty four hours. Most of these candles produce a soft glowing light while others make flickering lights making the illusion of a real candle complete. With no flame to pose a fire hazard, these candles are safe to use without worrying about being knocked over and causing burns, or worse, fire. And since the batteries of these candles last long – even longer using lithium batteries, or even rechargeable ones – you will not have to keep on replacing candles like their waxen counterparts. The LED light themselves will provide light up to 100,000 hours.

Almost like the real thing
With appearance very much similar to the real thing, battery operated candles are available in various shapes and sizes. Traditional window candles feature a battery operated candle on top of metal pewter, gold or bronze. These can be as simple as a single candle or in intricate polished nickel stand containing two or more candles.
There are also battery powered candles available in appearance similar to a large wax candle. These candles look very similar to real wax candles complete with an imitation melted wax on the sides. These can come in single, a set of two or three large candles of varying height. As an added feature, some of these candles can even be equipped with remote control, which gives you even more flexibility in their placement. These remote controlled candles can be switched on or off even from a distance, as much as twenty feet.
Other types of candles are the classic pillar look great for decorating a spa or a bedroom, decorative candles with intricate exterior design or wall sconces giving your home that classic ambiance. There are even battery operated candles for the holidays as well as outdoor candles great for decorating your garden or patios. Lastly, votive battery powered candles are perfect for altars and places of worship.

Inexpensive alternative
All these battery powered candles are beautifully crafted and designed to imitate the real ones. When you consider the long operating life as well as the battery power –especially if you use rechargeable ones – the cost savings of getting battery powered candles become more apparent. Add to this the safety and convenience of using them for decorations and such, the true value of these imitation candles becomes very clear.

One of the surest ways to brighten up a room, figuratively as well as literally is by clever use of lighting. From parties, gatherings, Christmases and up to just plain relaxation, the proper application of lighting can set the appropriate mood. However, setting up the lighting the way you want it is not always possible with ordinary lights. Some locations can simply limit your creativity due to having lots of areas where placement of lighting is almost impossible. For these situations, LED string lights are perfect.

LED string lights make use of small LED or light emitting diodes to generate lights. These lights are small enough that they do not require much power – a few small batteries can power them for a long time – but are also bright enough and comes in various vibrant colors. The lights are also resistant to the various effects of weather and can last a long time. Some can last longer than 100,000 hours!

The string arrangements of the lights are perfect for placing them on hard to reach places as well as around columns and trees. These are great during Christmas seasons. However, these can also be used on other occasions like birthday parties, impromptu gatherings and others. The lights consume very little power, so little that they can even come as powered by batteries. The battery-powered LED string lights provide even greater flexibility in handling and placement depending on whatever the room lighting design that you imagine. With batteries that can power them for more than 24 hours, your parties would never want for great and fun lighting.

There are several types of LED string lighting available. Electrically powered string lights can be as many as you want. However, these are tethered to the nearest electrical socket. Battery powered ones are more portable – they can be placed almost anywhere even without an electrical outlet – and lasts a long time. These string lights typically come in a 10-12 lights per set.

The battery operated LED string lights function exactly the same as their electrically powered counterparts. These lights come in various colors like blue, green, red, white and even in multiple colors. The lights come in 4-6 feet of light string and come in round or pointed caps. Three AA-sized batteries can power the light string for more than 24 hours straight. For more flexibility, as much as 5 LED strings can be connected together for an even longer string of lights.

The small cluster of 10-12 lights though can also be used in other arrangements like in flower vases, as accents in a flower arrangement, for table lighting decoration, or even decorations on windows. The battery powered ones can even be used as a costume illumination, greatly enhancing its effects.

The LED string lights offer the designer a wide area of possible arrangements for the lightnings that were not possible with traditional electrically powered lights. Equally great either being used for outdoors as well as indoors, the string lights let you make the kind of lighting you want at any style you want.
